Requim for a Walking Stick

Powerful and strong, it helped me past mountains. Holding fast when I could not.

Found in treachery, killed in fire, It was a friend to me when none were there.

Watchful guardian as I slept, fireside companion, leaning against a tree. A support for a weary arm, guiding and supporting me.

Look across a lake, envy filled my heart, I watched people that were twinkling lights, moving slowly, far away.

Shatter the moon in darkest water, fracture into a thousand pieces. That is how it got its inner name.

A mistake lead to it's downfall, thrust carelessly into a fire.

I will miss you, Walking Stick.
